Brief Biosketch

Lu Jiang is a Principal Research Scientist at Apple (brief bio). He was previously a Research Director at ByteDance USA, leading efforts on video foundation models, and held research scientist and manager roles at Google. He also served as Adjunct Faculty at the School of Computer Science, Carnegie Mellon University.

His research focuses on video generation, generative AI, and multimodal foundation models, with applications in YouTube, Google Cloud, Google Ads, Waymo, TikTok, and CapCut, impacting billions of users. His work has received Best Paper Awards at ICML and IJCAI-JAIR, and nominations at ACL and CVPR.

He actively serves the research community as an AI panelist for NSF SBIR, Area Chair for CVPR, ICCV, ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS, and Associate Editor for CVIU, IEEE TPAMI, and TMLR.

He received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Alexander Hauptmann, Teruko Mitamura. He was also affiliated with Xi'an Jiaotong University under Jun Liu.
